Abstract

The objective of this work was to determine the knowledge, perceptions, attitudes and beliefs of fathers and mothers regarding the content of the condom. Regarding the methodology, the interpretive paradigm was considered to establish re-interpretations from the interview data of items with a duly validated scale with the Cronbach coefficient, whose data treatment included two quantitative techniques such as: frequency of the Likert scale and Spearman's correlation to obtain differential results between fathers and mothers in the categories regarding the use of condoms by their sons and daughters. The results found indicated specific differences between categories related to the use of condoms between fathers and mothers, which allowed us to conclude first, fathers and mothers differ in their knowledge, perceptions, attitudes, and beliefs about condom use in adolescents; and second, there is a greater number of highly significant correlations between perceptions of condom use and attitudes towards condom use.
