Between longings and impositions Entre anhelos e imposiciones the female body in the educational act

Abstract

The female body has been permeated by different ideas and discourses that have designated how it should be and look, even guiding it to modelsfor movement, expression  and behavior. Currently, the female body is crossed by the influence and regulations of the media, family, society, culture, economy, politics and the educational context should not ignore it. For this reason, it is necessary to look at the way in which these discourses are configured in education, leading to an interest in knowing the interpretation of the students about what they say about themselves or what they refer to their classmates, according to the interpersonal relationships they establish and how sometimes these are  influenced by sociocultural discourses focused on men and on a mercantile idea of ​​beauty.  The above allows us to ask ourselves, as a society, about the way in which stereotypes of beauty, of the female body and different models of movement, behavior and expression with which it must comply have been transmitted, and even about those attributions that have been assigned to it as delicacy, tenderness, and submission; since these expressions and ideals affect the self-perception, self-esteem and the relationship that women have with their own body, and in certain cases they do not agree with the desires, aspirations and real possibilities for women. For this research, the main objective was to describe the perceptions of the female body of the 9th grade students from Institución Educativa La Piedad and its effects on the educational act for the academic year 2021, in the city of Medellín; leaving as a result the description of feelings of intimidation in the students by looks and comments related to the way they groom themselves, behave or put on makeup, thus observing stereotyped discourses about femininity.
